singularities in birational geometry: complexity and resolutions

Abstract

   Singularities appears naturally in the studies of algebraic geometry. In this talk, we will start with some explicit examples. Demonstrate some features of resolution of singularities.

  With these examples, one can exhibit some invariants that measures complexity of singularities. If time permits, we will talk about some applications.
