Title:
Linear stability of solitary waves for the isothermal Euler-Poisson system
Abstract
The isothermal Euler-Poisson (EP) system is a fluid model for the dynamics of ions in the electrostatic plasma. Among others, the emergence of solitary waves is one of the most interesting phenomena in the dynamics of the electrostatic plasma. We present our results on the linear stability of the one-dimensional EP solitary waves. To study the eigenvalue problem, we employ the Evans function approach and show that the EP Evans function converges to the KdV Evans function in the KdV scaling. This is joint work with B. Kwon.
