Title: A likelihood approach to comparing vaccines (such as Moderna and BNT for COVID-19) in causing multiple side effects in the paired scenario
Abstract:
In the COVID-19 pandemic various vaccines were manufactured to prevent contracting the disease. Very often, individuals inject more than one vaccines of different brands for better protection, and alongside with each vaccine are multiple side effects.
We introduce a robust likelihood approach to inference for paired multiple binary endpoints/side effects data. One can easily implement the innovative methodology without dealing with the model that incorporates a large number of joint probabilities of no direct relevance to the inference of interest. We present our method for testing the equality of two treatment (vaccine) effects (side effects) to exemplify the utility and simplicity of the method. Our novel technique is applicable when patients have different numbers of endpoints and need not be paired.
